Vision & Values

Our Vision

To build a thriving family of God that makes Him known and shares His joy with all peoples through worship, evangelism, and discipleship.

Our Values

Worship
Worship is enjoying the new life that we have in Christ. God seeks our worship, not to primarily receive something from us, but to give something to us – namely Himself! And worship is the central act of the church. It is in worship that we most fully experience our identity as God's beloved children. But additionally, worship isn’t just what happens at church on Sundays, but worship happens in all of life. Worship is our common calling to give glory to God in every aspect of life.

Evangelism
Evangelism is sharing the joy that we have in Christ with others. And we share this Gospel with our lives and with our words. If we preach the gospel with our words, but fail to preach it with our lives, we are hypocrites. And if we preach the gospel with our lives, but fail to preach it with our words, we’re not very helpful. We need to engage in the work of evangelism by sharing both the visual gospel and the verbal gospel.

Discipleship
Discipleship is sharing the Gospel to help others mature in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Biblical discipleship is Gospel-centered. The Gospel that saves us is the same Gospel that shapes us. Biblical discipleship seeks maturity in Christ. And maturity in Christ impacts all of life. Biblical discipleship is Spirit-empowered. Ultimately, it’s through the work of the Holy Spirit that people are changed and transformed to be more like Jesus. And at the end of the day, discipleship is life-on-life sharing. Discipleship is becoming like Jesus as we walk with him in the real world and then inviting others to walk with us.

Our Beliefs

We believe that both Old and New Testaments constitute the divinely inspired word of God, inerrant in the originals.

We believe in one God existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men.

We believe that the Holy Spirit came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment; and to regenerate, sanctify, comfort and seal those who believe in Jesus Christ.

We believe that man is totally depraved in that of himself he is utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.

We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose atoning blood was shed on the cross for the forgiveness of sins.

We believe the life of the believer is to be separated from the world by consistent conduct before God and man, and is to be in the world as a life-giving light.

We believe in the personal and visible and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our History

Family Chapel was established on October 1, 1991 as the English Ministry of Oriental Mission Church (OMC) in Los Angeles, CA. Over the decades through the care and support of the older generations, Family Chapel grew and transitioned from dependence to interdependence with OMC. In June 2023, Family Chapel was planted out from OMC’s campus to become a fully independent church. As such, we carry with us the heritage and faith traditions of the older generations as we seek to fulfill God’s purposes for us in our generation and leave a legacy for future generations.
